Lindy Schoenborn

lifelong photographer & artist at heart

I’ve always considered myself an artitst, and when I discovered the art of photography at age 15 I found the way I wanted to bring art into my everyday. My first camera was the start of an amazing adventure that has led me to pursue this love and passion for photography full time. Through my viewfinder I document the beauty that surrounds me and those who invite me to photograph their lives.

A few of my favorite things to photograph are creative portraits, colorful skies, new places I travel to, artists and their art, events, nature, and the surreal moments hidden within our reality. I have been asked to photograph for so many different occasions that I never imagined I would be a part of, and I am forever grateful for all the connections and opportunities that I’ve been given through this art. Sometimes I feel like an explorer with my cameras guiding me to create and document a beautiful life.

Whether I'm taking an adventure to a new city or spending time a friend in their home, I discover so many unique moments with my cameras that I look back on with love and gratitude. As an artist I have photographed for friends, family, neighbors, businesses, artists, couples, and also myself. I feel fulfilled as I adventure, reflect on what I see, relive the moments through my editing process, and then again when I share these moments with others. I am inspired by the street photographers I studied in school for their documentary style of photography, finding the art in the moment just as it is. The ability to reflect life is one of the most magical parts of photography for me; it's a way to preserve the transience of it.

I have learned so much and have grown over my many years working with this medium by working with film photography, alternative printing processes, being on the other side of the camera as a model, and recently through collage. I graduate from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and a Minor in Studio Art. I have had 2 solo photography exhibitions in Wilmington, a collection of cyanotypes in 2019 titled Deep Blue 1996 and a landscape exhibition titled True Nature. I have been featured in several group shows in Wilmington galleries such as Acme Art Studios, The ArtWorks, and CAM's State of the Art. I've worked for many businesses in North Carolina and beyond to provide them with high quality photography for their social media, websites, products, events, and to document a day in the life at their company.

In my 12+ years as a photographer I’ve taken on any photographic opportunity that I came my way, and these diverse opportunities have taught me so much about photography, life, and myself. I look forward to what I will photograph in the future as I continue to explore and dive deeper into this art form and if you'd like to work with me please contact me!
